​REGULAR EVENTS:

• Meditation Group - every 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7pm Abdon Village Hall. Just turn up and give it a try. Free of charge, all welcome. Tea, biscuits and a chat to end the evening. • UFO (Un Finished Objects) craft morning - every 2nd Saturday each month at Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm. Bring along your unfinished projects. Join us and learn a new craft skill or teach your craft skills to someone else. Please supply your own materials. Please make a donation for refreshments. 
• Coffee morning - last Saturday each month in Abdon Village Hall 10.30am to 12.30pm (except for December). Join us for coffee, cake and a chat, everyone welcome!

• Women's Institute - 2nd Monday of the month at 2pm, Clee St.Margaret Village Hall.

• St Margaret’s Church, Abdon - DONATIONS for LUDLOW FOOD BANK in the church porch. Any non-perishable food, unopened and in date will be very welcome, for example: tinned foods, long-lasting drinks, food cupboard items. Your donations will a make a difference and help someone. Donations will be taken regularly to the Ludlow Food Bank. THANK YOU.

• ​27th January - Avian Flu outbreak in North Shropshire:

  • Avian Influenza Prevention Zone. Keepers in Shropshire must house their birds due to the increase in cases across England and the outbreak of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in Shropshire. APHA has introduced mandatory housing measures in Shropshire from Monday the 27th of January. • 29th January - Fly Tipping. Fly Tipping is the illegal disposal of household, industrial, commercial, or other controlled waste. It can be anything from a single bag of waste to lorry loads of building waste. Fly tipping is a crime that carries serious penalties. Shropshire, in common with the rest of the country, has experienced an increase in fly tipping in recent years. Our Street Scene delivery partner clear reported fly tips within 5 working days. However, if the offence causes an obstruction, or is considered by us to be dangerous, this will be cleared sooner. • Wednesday 5th February - Abdon Village Hall Committee meeting. 7pm at Abdon Village Hall.
• Thursday 6th February 2025 from 6pm to 7pm for PPG members - Change NHS local online workshop for PPG members. To ensure the views of our local population feed into the national 10-Year Health Plan, as part of the Change NHS period of engagement, we are hosting an online workshop. The workshops will focus on the three big changes to be included in the plan: Use better technology in health and care, Move some care from hospitals to communities, Do more to stop people getting ill. • Saturday 8th February 2025 - Hedgelaying days. Abdon Village Hall 10.00am - 4.00pm. Come along to learn all about hedge laying and help with the laying of the Village Hall hedges, with expert Chris Rowe. Warm drinks and biscuits will be provided in the Village Hall and bring your own packed lunch. Bring warm clothes and suitable stout footwear All Welcome Enquiries tel: 07729 927777
• Wednesday 12th February - Abdon District Community Wildlife Group AGM at Clee St Margaret village hall. Doors open at 7.00pm and the meeting will start at 7.30pm. The intention is to get the AGM business dealt with as quickly as possible. We will then have 2 talks. Dave Munn Chairman of the Ditton Priors Land Trust will tell us about the developments at Oak Farm in Ditton Priors. Sue Crighton will then give a talk "Nature Recovery, Pine Martens and You".  A copy of our 2024 Annual Report is attached below. Despite the weather last year we still managed to get out to learn more about and enjoy our local wildlife and to add records to local and national databases.

• Wednesday 19th February - Wildlife Group. Leo Smith is coming to give us an update on the Curlew Survey results for 2023 and 2024.  This will include an update for the county as a whole. This will be held at Clee St Margaret village hall on Wednesday 19th February.  Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
